Test Drive Business
Plans at L.A. Gathering
WHO: Southern California Venture Network (SCVN), a nonprofit
organization hosts bi-monthly business exchanges to foster and
accelerate entrepreneurial ventures. SCVN is open to graduates of one
of Southern California's research universities including (USC, UCLA,
LMU, Pepperdine, etc.)
WHAT: Start-up companies are competitively selected to pitch
their business plans to an audience consisting of venture capitalists,
experienced executives, academicians, and management candidates who
provide an assessment of the company's model. This month's premiere
presenters include L.A.-based Bold Software, a new breed of
enterprise software company, building open source architectural
e-business applications on Linux platform; Alorus, the Irvine-based creator of
a handheld wireless video communicator and Seat Advisor, a San Diego-based
B2B vertical application service provider for the ticketing and box
office markets. The distinguished panel of venture capitalists will
include Fred Haney, Managing Partner of California Technology Ventures,
Sanjay Jindal of Chanin Partners,
and Denny Ko, Managing Partner of Dynafund Ventures.
WHEN/ADMISSION/WHERE: Tuesday, May 15, 2001, 6:30 PM - 8:20
PM. Admission is $20; attendance is free with annual membership. The
presentations will be held at Upstairs Commons on the campus of the
University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Get Map details

WHY: The SCVN has become one of the region's top-tier
catalysts for invigorating entrepreneurship. It was developed to
provide entrepreneurs a forum to hone their business plans by
presenting and defending them, as well as creating opportunities with
potential investors and provide peer-to-peer networking.
HOW: SCVN membership consists of early to mid-stage
entreprenreurs, savvy investors, accomplished business professionals,
and astute academicians from diverse managemnet and financial
backgrounds dedicated to developing high-growth companies throughout
Southern California. Annual membership fees are $125; student
membership is $50. Media are free to attend.
